![]() 2.4Ghz suffers from a problem of only having 3 main channels to work with, without overlap interference or cross channel interference. Not to mention neighboring Wi-Fi signals. This is before we get talking about physical interference such as walls, HVAC, plumbing and literally everything else. Microwave ovens, baby monitors, Bluetooth speakers, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless headphones. Literally everything you use on a daily can disrupt a 2.4Ghz signal. It's 20 year old tech, suffers from a horrible amount of interference due to it being an unlicensed band (it doesn't cost to use the band like they do with long range transmissions). Truth be told, most people are using 2.4Ghz b/g/n networks with a top end cap of 70Mbps each direction and can go really far, over 100+ft from the access point or router. Wi-Fi seems to be something everyone thinks is fool-proof or always works because they have no issues from their phones. Under all circumstances if you can hardwire, do so.
